That's how I used to check up football scores before the internet was everywhere. Teletext was an option on many early 80's televisions that added around ?100 to the price. Bamboozle, Digitiser, Now and Next & live football scores. Who remembers that clunky old information service from the likes of the BBC and ITV/Ch4! Look at the date of the article. This made me want to search out some teletext archives and turns out that was pretty easy to find. All the other pages are no longer operational though. As far as I know we didn’t have anything like this in the U.S. and I would have been absolutely obsessed with it if we did. The reality was so much different - I remember the first Teletext set I had (this was in 1984, and was a good few years after that commercial was made), and I'd sometimes be sitting there for well over half a minute waiting for my selected page to show itself (reminds me of dial-up)! live what was going on.
