Galway Bus Lines

By car

If you are coming by car, please be aware that there are a number of parking restrictions in place in the city / on campus. Galway City Centre is pedestrianised so cars only have access prior to 10am. The streets around the city centre are mainly one-way on account of Galway being, in essence, a medieval city (parts of the old city wall can still be seen) with narrow passageways. Car parking is relatively expensive (€2 per hour on street).

At National University of Ireland Galway

The main campus and the IDA Business Park (Location of Insight) have areas for Pay-and-Display parking and they are easy to identify in the car park as “P&D” parking spaces.

Effective Pay and Display times: 08:30 – 17:30, Monday – Friday.

Pay-and-Display rates (subject to revision):

€1.50 per hour or €10.00 for the day at NUIG Main Campus Car Parks
€1.00 per hour or €6.00 for the day at P&R carpark, IDA Business Park

We have some parking disks available, please let us know if you wish to avail of them.

Important Note: Cars parked in other spaces at the NUI Galway campus and Insight Car Park not displaying a valid parking permit will be clamped.
Vehicle wheel-clamp release fee 08:00 – 18:00: €60.00
Vehicle wheel-clamp release fee 18:00 – 23:00: €80.00
