As DTV sequels go this is pretty watchable, Universal's decision to take this character direct to video is a travesty. Welcome back to Woovember, the most ass-kicking month of the year! Darkman II: The Return of Durant is a 1995 direct-to-video sequel to Darkman.
However, after refusing an offer from Durant's men to buy his building (which they want for their particle-weapon scheme), Durant orders Brinkman killed. The TV version also features a shot of the policemen apprehending the immobilized gunman after Darkman's remark: "Thanks for the donation." Almost like the anomaly that are these direct-to-video sequels.
I'm glad that's finally clicked for me, because it's a pretty unique thing.

Darkman must step in and try to stop Durant once and for all. This time, Durant has plans to take over the city's drug trade using high-tech weaponry.
Other than the obvious recast of our protagonist, the most obvious downgrade from the previous film is the story, which defies credulity. Westlake discovers his body, and upon observing Brinkman's body missing a finger (Durant's calling card), is able to deduce that Durant is alive and responsible for Brinkman's death.
In this sequel, the evil Robert G. Durant returns, and Darkman has to face him yet again, as he threatens to create an arsenal of new superweapons.

He sets out to protect her from Durant. It never happened due Campbell working on other projects. I expected them to have some half conceived exposition about how he developed a new formula but it meant his face change, etc but no, they just went right in on the recasting!
