While Carter is rushing to the front of the herd, a stray walker grabs him and bites him on the cheek. Carlos tells Sarah that everything will be fine as Carver breaks his fingers. Whereas Carlos seems to manage supplies, healthcare, and group organization, Pete seems to handle supply gathering, hunting, and self-defense. William "Bill" Carver is a main character in (and antagonist of) the fourth season of The Walking Dead: Take Us Back. Even should Clementine appeal to him, it is still his suggestion to lock her up. He later follows Kenny's instructions to wait outside while he kills Carver. After Clementine tells him about Pete's death or Nick's status, Rebecca tells Carlos to get the guns.

Luke later makes an irritated comment in asking when the last time Carlos ever liked something was, in response to Carlos verbalizing his doubts on taking Clementine across the bridge, suggesting that he perhaps disapproves of Carlos' skepticism. Carlos is mentioned by Luke after he reunites with Clementine and Jane at the Sunshine Village Mobile Home Park, by which that after Carlos' death, Sarah ran into the woods like a crazy person before "beelining" into the mobile park, where he and Nick (Determinant) eventually caught up to her. After bandaging Clementine's wound, Carlos scolds her for "manipulating" his daughter, Sarah, into helping her procure a bottle of hydrogen peroxide from the group's own supplies. After being taken hostage, Alvin is dragged out by Carver to force Kenny to surrender, and is executed.

If Sarah is left behind at the trailer park, her last words were crying out for Carlos. Carlos disagrees on Rebecca's plan to search for Alvin, but goes with her out of concern for her.
These choices will either build a base for friendship between the two of them or cause Carlos to become angered and tell Clementine that he thinks that she is not to be trusted.
