While not as comprehensive as seminal Fraenger's tour de force on the subject, it is definitely more accessible and recommended for anyone mesmerized by Bosch's paintings. Stefan Fischers' scholarly but accessible writing is narrower in scope than Larry Silvers' two-volume, 900 page magnum opus on the Flemish masters of the Northern Renaissance, but that is by no means a bad thing.
