If you listen to the lyrics in bold as love he’s just telling you which colours match so when he says ‘turquoise armies lay opposite a ready’ he is saying a red Ab (G#) not ‘a ready’ I think that Bold as Love refers to the combined emotions in the rainbow that make up the person and how they feel/emote. Jimi’s version will always be the best because he sings from actual exeprience and the deep emotions generated by real love. But when I think of Hendrix, I think of some of the most placid, lovely guitar sounds on songs like “One Rainy Wish,” “Little Wing” and “Drifting.” “Little Wing” is painfully short and painfully beautiful.
