bijou eugene

If you are looking for a classic Eugene experience the Bijou should be on your list of stops to make, maybe after a drink and meal at the Beerstein.Well, what can I say about the Bijou? Formerly a funeral home, the bijou is a great theater where you can experience what theaters USED to be like. To be completely honest, I see a movie here about once a month and I really feel like I haven't seen a bad movie here. Before I moved to this town, I would have never gone to see a movie by myself, but now, thanks to this place, it's one of my favorite things to do. I love finding jewels in cities I'm completely unfamiliar with and the Bijou is definitely that. The conversations in line are a whole lot more interesting than what you can listen in  on at the multi-plex.

Support your local film theater- once it's gone, it's gone forever (think Flicks and Picks)! The building itself is intriguing with an interesting history, the staff has always been nice, and the ticket price is beyond reasonable. I saw Farenheit 9/11, Spike and Mike's Twisted shit (can't remember the year, and it's really not that important, since they show it every year,) a documentary on the Eugene Poetry Slam, and best of all, Straight No Chaser, the documentary on Thelonious Monk!

Better then average cinema snacks and movie selection, though sometimes a bit repetitive.

No matter.

I love little theaters anyway, but Bijou had this strange cool feel to it.

The films generally fall in the campy horror or indie categories. Hit or miss parking. All the class of a big city art house cinema, minus the pretension. Anyway, I saw The Darjeeling Limited there, and I know that this had nothing to do with Bijou, but Bill Murray's cameo was sweet. I love the atmosphere and the staff. Uncomfortable seats.

This community is small, word of mouth is central to success. Hence the much needed social control of business ethics,  which doesn't seem to be in her purview. Keep doing what you do. Great popcorn and nice people. Restaurants near Bijou Art Cinemas 492 E 13th Ave, Eugene, OR 97401-4268.

The environment is great for movie goers, and very atmospheric.

Poor attitude has never served to profit anyone. If you want a dog or beer or wine they have that too. Avoid the headache and check out a traditional, well designed multiplex for a comfortable movie experience in Eugene or Springfield.

Love the selection of movies. closed in but with a an open sky and seats for before or after the movie conversations.

I am sure I have the movie stubs somewhere. Very comfy since remodeling and getting new seats.

Honestly, if you want to see a real film, then start here. Uncomfortable seats.

(nwpprs.com/Investigation…)The staff is friendly and cool, the movies they get are what you would expect from an art theater, and the price is very affordable. I actually used to live directly across the street from this place. The new location downtown is super cool. more, I love the energy around and in this building. We were able to sit down to a movie no one else in town was showing, and enjoy a beer and garlic parmesan popcorn. Ugh!

As a result, we somehow lived in Eugene for like five years before we made it to the Bijou. Now that I've been, I want to go back! Go to the Bijou, watch a movie. now. This is a pretty cool place to see obscure movies that you won't find anywhere else in town.

Can I get the popcorn here even if I'm not seeing a movie? I always liked the style of the Bijou as well as the movies. In this case, it would have cost you nothing to do this. Until recently, I was a loyal customer with 10+ years of patronage. We got to sit up top in the main theater to watch films and it was awesome.

I saw some INCREDIBLE movies at the Bijou including 'Persepolis', 'The Diving Bell and the Butterfly' and 'The Band's Visit'. That stuff looks like its been there since the beginning of time. Plus the building used to be a funeral home, which just makes it that much cooler. However, the seats are pretty uncomfortable, which sucks if you're watching a 2 hour movie. He is always sitting in the lobby chairs when you enter. Copyright © 2004–2020 Yelp Inc. Yelp, , and related marks are registered trademarks of Yelp. I love the old Bijou!! Ugh!

There is a lovely courtyard if you are a smoker or want some "air".

The bijou used to be a church, so the theaters are rather interesting. I feel like for independent films, this is just as good as it gets.

Comfortable seats, good sound & great flicks. Recently, the owner decided she would not accept the card and applied her own set of irrational rules regarding why she would not take the card. Where else are you going to catch that magic on the big screen. to the nutritional yeast for the popcorn to the laid back style to the slideshow of cool photos shown before each movie, this was the best place to chill out and catch a flick in the 'Eug. Including dairy-free, chocolate dipped pretzels. This is a pretty cool place to see obscure movies that you won't find anywhere else in town. Sundance winning foreign film? Where beer and comfy seats might seal the deal.Another major drawback- the bijou doesn't have much of a website and therefore doesn't know how to properly market itself. are really friendly, and they show great movies, and they have this amazing "Miser Monday" deal -- THREE DOLLAR MOVIE TICKETS.

Romantic and mellow.

If you want charm and a foreign flick, this is the place to be. So, if you are like me and love Oregonian beer you'd probably, after drinking at say the Beerstein, might opt-out of the Bijou and stroll to the David Minor instead.

I always get here early to get a good seat and someone sit in from of me with a hat and BO. Small but charming theater with super nice managers.

I believe it was the nutritional yeast option for your popcorn that really kept me coming back.

This was my first trip to the Bijou since the new owner  took possession in April, I must say the place "Ain't what it used to be."

We got to see a movie in a beautiful old church and the people that work there are very... more, I've been going to the Bijou since it first opened many years ago and I've always been happy when I attend. Claim your business to immediately update business information, respond to reviews, and more!

I am aware of this likely happening to other patrons and am left wondering, what right minded business owner finds it beneficial to disenfranchise long-term customers? In addition to showing indie films at great prices ($5 / $7), the Bijou pops their own popcorn and will add nutritional yeast if you request it (which you should). plus you can get nutritional yeast on your popcorn for 50 cents.” in 5 reviews, “In those days there were no closer places to see indie films and no Sundance Channel-style offerings on cable.” in 3 reviews, “Nice courtyard closed in but with a an open sky and seats for before or after the movie conversations.” in 5 reviews, Bringing the Finest Foreign, Independent and Classic Film to the Eugene Community for Over 35 Years.….
